Cecily (Susan Louise
O’Connor) is the “creative” sister. After having been kicked out of her
latest “home,” she shows up at her sister Janey’s (Melissa Macleod
Herion) door looking for a place to stay. In Jennifer Brown
Stone’s and David S. Stone’s THE DIORAMA, the
relationship between these two sisters is explored. Occupying both ends of the
spectrum, Cecily and Janey share family secrets, painful memories, and moments
of joy no matter how different they may be. And both learn that sometimes the
only way to survive is to create a little fantasy.
THE DIORAMA is a heartfelt, thought-provoking piece of work full of engaging albeit definitely flawed characters. Denny (Bob Greenberg), who speaks in spaghetti, has befriended Cecily, while Elliot (Hunter Canning) is the long-awaited gentleman who has dropped into Janey’s life displacing Tom (Alberto Bonilla) and his little shoe fetish. Remarkable performances by all, together they bring together vulnerability and perseverance in an unconventional way. Under the watchful and caring direction of David S. Stone, THE DIORAMA leaves you uplifted, hopeful and inspired. And it does it in 80 minutes – impressive!
