In a world inhabited by men (husband and sons), it is easy to lose oneself. After the death of her husband, that is exactly where Mrs. Loman (Monique Vukovic) finds herself. As she attempts to depend on the family to give her husband’s death dignity, she is filled with self-recrimination. Could she have done more? What role will she assume now that the belief system she has always depended on has been shattered?
Bravo to Barbara Cassidy for presenting the female dilemma in the follow-up to “Death of a Salesman.” The impact of death on family members and friends is beautifully portrayed by a stellar cast. In MRS LOMAN we get to watch the emergence of a fuller, wiser woman as she discovers, enhances, and celebrates the person who is given an opportunity to think about themselves for the first time. The road is full of twists and turns and difficult decisions, making this an eventful journey you will be glad you pursued.
