Mark your calendars today so you don’t miss this gift of a perfect New York City evening, next year. Mother Nature was the female lead in the Pas de Deux in the final performances, which made the night even more spectacular. At 7:15, hundreds of people seated and in line opened their umbrellas for a 3-minute torrential downpour. Then, as if to foreshadow what was coming next, the skies cleared, the breeze was delicious, and there was a double rainbow. After a brief time to dry the stage, voila, the rest of the magic happened.
Each performance was divine in its own special way, and the music and staging added to the experience. The program began with gorgeous red costumes and exciting dances from Ballet Hispanic. ABT and NYC Ballet were magnificent in their romance and choreography. Dance Theatre of Harlem mesmerized and the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre left us all wishing for more with their NYC themed performance and costumes.

For a few short hours, you are transported, sitting outside with fellow New Yorkers who cherish the opportunity to watch these amazing dancers, dance their hearts out for us, under the open sky.
